Community Projects

Clean water, nutrition, and practical support for the villages we serve.

Clean Water

A rainwater collection system with three 10,000-liter tanks supplies the orphanage in Masaka, Uganda. When rainfall was insufficient the supply ran out, and children walked down the mountain to gather river water — government water lines had not been extended up the mountain.

Thanks to a donation from Andrew and Christina DeLaTorre, Lazarus Momentum purchased a lot at the bottom of the mountain, dug a well, installed underground water lines, and now carries clean spring water up the mountain to refill the tanks.

Nutrition & Goat Project

During the 2022 mission our team encountered malnourished babies — including a six-month-old raised by his elderly grandmother after his mother died in childbirth. Goat milk is a nutritional lifeline for these infants.

Three male and ten female goats were purchased in July and September 2022 with a goal of breeding the herd. A permanent goat pen was started in September 2023. The long-term goal is to give selected remote villages one male and two female goats — Bumogolo village received its first pregnant female goat as part of the program.

Goats have now been purchased and placed in over six communities to provide milk for malnourished babies, under the directorship of Dr. Mutagubya Nicholas and Lubega Michael Jackson Aliwali.

Lazarus Dolls

Women in the community have been employed by Lazarus Momentum to manufacture Lazarus Dolls. Under the leadership of Dr. Roy and Dr. Vicky, children in the communities hear the story of Lazarus and are given a doll. This provides income for these women to help support their families and improve their economic status.
